3 Month Motorhome Trip
There’s no better feeling than being able to jet off and enjoy an extended holiday, and if you own a motorhome you’ve got all the freedom you need to make the most of it. You’re free to drive wherever and whenever you want, whether you want to stay in the UK or head on over to Europe to experience the delights of the continent, and with the right essentials and insurance by your side you can enjoy your motorhome trip in the best way possible.
Heading on a 3 month holiday is no small feat, so being properly prepared is essential. If you haven’t already got your motorhome then you should start by thinking about the size of vehicle that you’re actually going to need – 3 months is a long time, so it’s important to make sure that you’re comfortable for the duration. Of course, this often comes down to personal preference, with some people being happy in a small motorhome while others will need something on the larger and more luxurious side of things (perhaps more of an American-style RV), so just take a look around and try a few out to see which one suits you.
As for the essentials, in a nutshell, anything you’ll need to sustain you for 3 months. Food, clothes, kitchen utensils and toiletries/medical kits will be essential, but remember to think on a more practical level too. You’ll want to bring equipment that could help if you were to break down or blow a tyre, and never underestimate the importance of having air conditioning installed – if you’re on the road during the height of summer it can get incredibly hot and air con will be well worth it. You’ll want maps and/or satnav, particularly if you’re heading further afield, and always check the rules and regulations of being on the road when you’re abroad – some countries require you to have headlight deflectors, for example, so make sure to be prepared.
Insurance should always be arranged before you head off, and this is particularly important when you’re going to Europe. Some insurance policies will only cover you for a set number of days and others need to be made aware of your holiday plans in advance, so make sure to check the small print so you’re totally covered. Always carry your insurance papers with you as well as your driving licence, and if you remember all the practicalities involved you can look forward to a fantastic motorhome trip that will leave you with lifelong memories.
