Benefiting from specialist caravan insurance

If you want to get the most from your caravan insurance then you may wish to visit the websites of some of the providers offering specialist caravan insurance. They may be able to offer you a greater breadth of cover than general insurance providers.

For example:

  • because specialist caravan insurance providers are all too well aware of the different types of risk faced by different types of caravan, they may offer discounts if you try and reduce these risks or even require that you take risk reducing measures as part of their terms and conditions;
  • if you have a static, for example, this may mean that, given the damage that can occur to a static if a site is flooded, discounts may be available if you locate your static on a site that has a good history of being flood free;
  • with a tourer, on the other hand, you may find that there are requirements to use a wheel clamp if you leave your caravan unattended but attached to your towing vehicle – and add a hitchlock if the caravan is detached and unattended;
  • awnings may be another area close to the heart of specialist caravan cover providers;
  • they may offer cover for awnings but ask caravan users to ensure that the awning is stowed away whenever you leave the caravan – in fact, they may not cover storm damage to awnings if this happens when there is no one around;
  • even among specialist providers, the criteria covering new for old replacement of your caravan may be very different – the age of your caravan may typically be a significant factor with some providers offering new for old replacement for caravans up to 5 years old whereas others may use only 3 years ;
  • if you have a certain type of caravan, like a Hobby for example, then you may know how difficult it may be to find providers willing to cover this type of caravan – fortunately, there are providers of specialist caravan insurance who may be only too happy to offer insurance for this type of vehicle.
