Caravan Quote

There are many ways that you are able to make savings on your caravan quote. One of these is by looking at the amount of excess that the insurance company asks for. All insurance companies will state a minimum amount of excess that you will have to pay.

The excess is a lump sum of money that you would need to pay towards any claim you put in before the insurance company will step in and cover the rest. For example, if you should be the victim of theft and you had belongings worth £600 stolen from your caravan and you were paying an excess of £200 then you would have to pay the first £200 and the insurance company would take over the rest of the claim which would be £400.

You can someties help to keep down the cost of your insurance by offering to pay a higher amount of excess than what the company asks for. If they ask that you pay out an excess of £200 you could offer to pay £300 and this may then go towards your insurance premiums being cheaper.

However while paying more in excess can help to keep down the cost of your caravan quote you would need to bear in mind that the amount you chose to pay as excess would come out of your own pocket and in a lump sum in the event of a claim. You should also take into account that should you become unlucky enough to have to make more than one single insurance claim in the same year then you would probably lose out on any savings you make on the insurance premium. You may also wish to check if the provider asks you to pay out extra in excess for windows and windscreens as some but not all ome providers will add in additional excess for these along with the normal excess for a claim.
