Classic Caravan Insurance
Caravan insurance is essential for all makes and model of caravan no matter how old it may be, but when talking about such insurance it’s often automatic to think in terms of a new purchase. But, what if your caravan is of an older generation? Older models, often thought of as classic caravans, need just as much care, attention and financial protection as any other. So is it easy to get classic caravan insurance, and just how can you go about doing it?
Let’s start by looking at what actually defines a classic caravan. A classic caravan tends to be one that’s over 20 years of age (although for a lot of classic caravan enthusiasts this is the minimum age they should be), and therefore requires special insurance considerations. While it usually won’t be worth as much as a newer model it’s liable to suffer from more issues, and if it needed repairing any spare parts could be harder to come by. This all means that specialist insurance will be required, and failing to have any in place can lead to unfortunate consequences.
The only problem is that many regular caravan insurers won’t insure anything over 20 years old. This means that a lot of classic caravan owners need to look a bit further afield to find the right level of cover, but they shouldn’t give up altogether. If you’ve got a classic model then there are plenty of specialist insurers that will be able to accommodate, and they should always be considered if you want to be prepared for any eventuality.
You should probably start by searching online for appropriate companies, and if you spend the time to look you?ll easily be able to find them. But, if that seems like it’s too time-consuming, try heading to a broker or even a price comparison website instead. If you’re still having trouble then consider joining a classic caravan forum where plenty of like-minded owners will be able to advise, or head to The Caravan Club where you’ll invariably be able to find all the help you could need.
So, if you need to find classic caravan insurance, don’t give up at the first hurdle. It could be harder to find appropriate cover than if you had a newer model but the time spend will be well worth it, and if you head online and search for all the available options you’ll soon find something to suit.
