Holiday Caravan Insurance

It is sensible that you choose your holiday caravan insurance very carefully. Your holiday home will be one of the most expensive purchases that you make after your home. Therefore when buying insurance for your holiday home you will have to consider all the features that could be included in with insurance which would provide you with peace of mind and the security you need.

As your holiday caravan will be your home away from home then you will have a great many personal items in your caravan. Therefore you will have to take these into account and ensure that you have cover for these. Most but not all insurance providers will usually include some form contents insurance for your personal belongings and items in your holiday home but there will usually be limitations to these. For instance any items over a certain value such as jewellery and expensive electrical equipment might not be included in with the standard insurance policy. If you wanted to protect these you may have to insure these separately.

When considering what your policy would pay back in the event that you should have to make a claim for loss or damage, check the small print. Some providers will offer new for old replacements and others will take depreciation into account. If your policy offers new for old then you would be given brand new replacements for items regardless of the wear and tear they had suffered. Your insurance provider may ask you to work out the sum you want to insure the contents of your holiday caravan for. When working this out it is pertinent that you do not forget even the smallest of items in your caravan, as things quickly add up.

If you plan on renting out your holiday home then you may want to consider if your holiday caravan insurance includes accidental damage included in the policy. Some policies will include accidental damage in the standard insurance policy while others could ask you pay an additional amount to have this form of protection.

When renting out your holiday home you may also wish to have liability insurance included in with the policy. This could be useful in case someone should get hurt while in your caravan. For instance is the steps are damaged and someone should fall on them due to this. Your insurance policy may then pay out for medical and legal expenses which otherwise would have to come out of your own pocket.

Finally when considering holiday caravan insurance you may want to check the terms and conditions of any policy you are considering taking out. All insurance providers will include limitations so knowing of these is a good idea before you go rushing into taking out your insurance policy as it can preveny any surprises if you were to have to make a claim.
