Insurance for Caravans
Finding insurance for caravans can be a tricky business. All that hunting for the perfect quote, having to compare the options and then, finally, having to pay the premiums. A lot of people are put off by the whole process because of the belief that they’ll have to pay incredibly high rates, but that isn’t always the case.
In fact, there are several things you can do to reduce your premiums, and just one of them is taking a higher voluntary excess. If you opt for a higher excess your insurer will be able to offer your cheaper rates as a result, as they don’t have the risk of having to pay out so much in the event of a claim. This is often preferable for people who want lower monthly premiums, and if you don’t have to worry about a large outlay then it can be a great choice.
But, although it can be a great way to reduce your monthly premiums, you always need to remember that if you ever do have to make a claim you’ll be expected to pay more out of your own pocket. This could still be preferable though, because that one-off claim could well cost less than the sum total of your monthly payments.
There are other things that you can do to reduce your premiums besides increasing your excess, such as making sure you’ve got the right security features in place. You could also try becoming a member of a camping and caravanning club, and if you remove some of those added extras that are included in your policy then you can easily reduce your premiums.
As you can see, insurance for caravans doesn’t have to be that expensive and there are things you can do to make sure you’re not paying too much. If you take on board these hints then you’ll be able to insure your caravan without breaking the bank, and can even enjoy your next holiday with a bit of extra cash in your pocket.
