Caravan insurance should always be considered for anyone who owns a caravan. But what happens if you own two caravans of different types? Do you have to get separate policies or will multiple caravan insurance be a possibility?
Unfortunately, there’s no set answer. First of all, not all caravan insurers will be able to offer joint policies on two caravans of different kinds. Static and touring caravans have markedly different requirements and as such not all insurers will feel confident in insuring them together, so you might have to buy separate policies for each.
But, that’s not always the case. A lot of insurers will be able to offer multiple caravans insurance policies, giving you a single policy that covers all of your vehicles. As long as it comes with adequate cover then a single policy could be the ideal option, as having just one will often be much cheaper than having two separate ones.
However, you sometimes find that having a single policy results in higher premiums, so make sure to do your research and always read the small print. In some cases you could find that having separate policies with different insurers will actually work out far cheaper than having a joint one, and then there’s the fact that because each type of caravan has different insurance requirements you may not be able to get everything you need from one umbrella policy.
So, while it’s sometimes possible to get multiple caravans insurance cover, always make sure that you’re getting the cover you need at the price you want before you make your decision. The whole point of getting a joint policy is to have cheaper premiums, so if you can’t get these or if the cover isn’t comprehensive enough it’s wise to keep searching.
