Residential Caravan Insurance

Owning your own caravan is a great way to take a much needed holiday with relatively little costs involved as you already own the caravan. However many people live in a caravan year round, often called park homes. If you have a park home then you will need to take out insurance for your caravan just as you would if you lived in a brisk and mortar house. In this case you would need to look into taking out residential caravan insurance.

Just as home insurance costs vary then so will the cost of the policy when insuring your residential caravan. There are many things that you can do to help keep down the cost of your policy and ensure that you get the cheapest premiums and if you shop and compare the cost of the policy this will also go towards ensuring that you get the best cover. For instance you would want to ensure that your policy included cover for your personal belongings. As you are living in your caravan year round then you will have all the things you would have in any “normal” house. Therefore ensure that such as your TV, satellite equipment and such as computer would be protected in your policy. You would have to work out an inventory to get to a figure which should be what you insure for in the event that you were to lose everything.

When looking for residential caravan insurance you would also have to check to find out if the policy could be claimed on for such as patio, decking and fencing around the caravan. Some insurance companies will provide you with this and with others you could have to pay more to include these.
