Tourer Insurance
When considering taking out tourer insurance whether you are looking for insurance for your caravan, motor home or campervan then it is necessary that you check the features of the policy. Different providers can add in different features along with different limitations on the cover and it is only by checking out the small print that you can find these out. Some features would be considered essential while others you might not need.
One of the features you may want to check to ensure it is included in the protection when looking for tourer insurance is European cover. However of course if you do not plan on touring outside of the UK then tourer insurance containing Europe Cover would be an unnecessary expense, especially if the premiums are higher to have this included. If you are travelling around Europe then it would be classed as desireable and you may not want to risk leaving the UK without it. European cover could pay out if you were to have an accident whilst touring, it could include recovery, repairs and staying in alternative accommodation while your tourer was mended.
Another feature you might want to check is included in your policy and what the limitations are in force is personal belongings insurance. Most but not all policies will include this to cover any belongings you take with you out on the road but there will be limits as to the amount they would payout and what they will payout for. Some providers will payout new for old on your belongings and others will take depreciation into account. If the provider offers new for old then of course as the name suggests you would get brand new replacements for your items if they should become stolen or damaged. A policy that includes new for old replacement may be slighter dearer than one that takes deprecation into account. If you have items that are particularly expensive then you would have to check to ensure that these would be covered in the policy. Items which are limited could include expensive jewellery for example.
To help to keep down the cost of your tourer insurance you can offer to pay out more for the excess than what the insurance company asks for. All insurance providers will state a minimum amount that you would have to pay towards the claim before the insurance company would payout the rest. While you might make some great savings by boosting up the amount you pay in Exvess you would have to remember that this sum of money would have to come out of your own pocket as a lump cash sum. You could also ensure that your touring caravan is as safe as possible and this may help to keep down the cost of your insurance. If you pay out for such security devices as door lock, wheel clamp, an immobiliser, tracking device or even smoke alarms then you may cut down the cost of insurance for your touring caravan.
